On June 2, the last of 5 sessions of Trustbuilding through dialogue took place at the Antonine school in Ksara.
The group was composed of the Antonine School Parents and Teachers from various religious and political affiliations. This was a response to a great need for mutual understanding especially following the most recent events that deepened the mistrust between the Lebanese communities.
The group’s narratives were a very rich addition to the process of knitting an inclusive national narrative starting with Educators. One of the results of this process is the conviction of the participants about the necessity to engage the students starting from the next school year, in a similar process, where they can shift from being a pseudo community to becoming an authentic community through opening spaces for deep mutual understanding and appreciation of differences.
The group was inspired by multiple documentaries that were seen and discussed, on successful transformation in divided societies and countries.
The personal story sharing helped the participants know, acknowledge and appreciate their mutual experiences, pains and achievements.
